THE LIFE AND GOOD TIMES OF ROBERT A. EDWARDS JR.
December 23, 1966 – February 13, 2025
A bright light in the world has gone out today. The gentle soul of Robert Arthur Edwards Jr., 58, found its way to his eternal resting place. Bob, as he was known to his friends, was adored by his mother, the late Joan Harms (Bill Harms) and his father, the late Robert Edwards Sr (Beverly Edwards). Bob was born into a large family with four siblings who included him in everything. Carl Schwendler (Debbie) and Donald Scott Edwards (Teresa) made his dreams come true. He was loved and admired by his sisters. Tracy Tone (Kevin) became a Special Education teacher because of her brother. He treated his youngest sister, Jennifer Davoli (Tony) as the baby of the family and reminded her often that he was older. Bob was the proud uncle of Candice DePasquale (Jennifer) and Scott Edwards Jr (Lacey), Zachary Tone (McKenna) and Lauren Tone (Kevin Hough), Matthew Davoli (Leah), Molly Davoli (Austin Lewis) and Marissa Davoli, and Katie and Emily Pawlik. Bob is also a great uncle to Taylor, Olivia, Lydia and James.
All his life, Bob was tucked under the compassionate and protective wings of his family. Each of them encouraged him to strive to do his best in whatever he attempted. He was a member of the Special Olympics where he excelled as a powerful swimmer, runner and bowler. He skied, ice skated, danced and loved music of all kinds. His favorite music was played on the country music station, WYRK. He sang with his friends in a choral group in Derby called God’s Angels. He attended St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Angola, NY.
Bob brought an electric spirit of energy to every endeavor he participated in and celebrated all of his accomplishments. His friends were as varied as his life interests including a policeman he met on the bus ride to work, as well as television and radio personalities. Their impression of him was long-lasting and when they met a second time, most of them instantly remembered his name, which thrilled Bob. He took pleasure in the differences as well as the abilities of his friends and many were life-long friendships, including John and Heather.
Bob worked at Allentown Industries, a sheltered workshop in Buffalo, NY. He was recognized for more than 25 years of service. He loved and was proud of his job while brightening the lives of all who knew him there. He was often warmly referred to as the “Mayor of Allentown Industries.”
In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family requests donations be made to Suburban Adult Service, Inc. (SASI), 960 W Maple Court, Elma, NY 14059. Bob has been a resident of SASI group homes (previously Claddagh Commission) for more than 35 years. Our family wishes to sincerely thank all administrative and staff members for their dedication and support. Please know you helped to make Bob’s life joyous and productive.
