Houston, Joan M. (nee Mertzlufft)

Of Angola, NY passed away peacefully in her home September 3, 2025. Joan was born in Buffalo, NY, July 18, 1930, to the late Joseph and Adeline Mertzlufft. She recently celebrated her 95th birthday with family and friends, reflecting on a full and independent life. Joan was a former social studies teacher with the Lake Shore Central Schools and a proud and active member of her community and church. Joan is the wife of the Late William G. Houston; loving mother of Linda Houston, Lori Houston-Greene and Lee Houston; grandmother of Corrinne Greene; sister of Rev. Paul (Winifred) Mertzlufft and the late Ronald (Judith) Mertzlufft. Family will be present to receive friends Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 1PM-4 PM at the Addison Funeral Home Inc. 262 N. Main St. Angola, NY. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 8, 2025, at 11 AM in the First Congregational UCC, 132 N. Main St. Angola, NY. Memorials may be made to either the First Congregational Church or a charity of your choice. Interment will follow in Forest Avenue Cemetery, Angola, NY.
