Winters, Lorraine Jean (née Beyer)

Passed away at age 99.
Lorraine was the daughter of Irene (Powers) and Raymond Beyer. She was born in Auburn, NY and came with them, as a child, to Gowanda, NY where she and her younger sister Beverly grew up. Lorraine was a graduate of Gowanda High School, class of 1944. She then attended the Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. She eventually had a career as a school nurse/teacher at the Lake Shore Central schools.
On January 17, 1948 she married Frederick W. Winters Jr. and settled in Brant, NY where they had a farm. They raised their two children and had a good life. She was a longtime active member of The First Congregational United
Church of Christ, in Angola and sang in the choir. After they retired she and Fred moved to N. Fort Myers, Florida where they lived happily for 25 years. Fred passed away in 2007 and Lorraine stayed there until returning to WNY in 2013. She lived in Orchard Park and Hamburg in her last years.
She is predeceased by her husband , her parents and her sister and survived by her son Mark (Diane), her daughter, Carol (Bill) and grandchildren, Emily(Pete), Matt (Laura), Rebecca(Alex), and Anne (Joe): and great-grand children, Henrietta, Sam, Lilly and Jack.
A memorial service will be held in the spring. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY.
