I Remember My Mom.
My Mom wrote a poem describing her Mom as "One Hell of a Lady". Let me say I describe my Mom as "One Beautiful Lady!" Growing up from a little boy to a middle aged man, I always had the love and support of a caring, loving Mom! We were always close, from those days on Cumberland ave, going out to Chestnut Ridge Park, the Genesee hiking trails, Remodeling the East Aurora house, going to St John's Bingo, staying home from school helping her bake thousands of Christmas cookies, fudge, and candy! Fond memories of good times! Holidays, why these were some of the best. Christmas, Birthdays, Halloween were among her favorites and celebrated to the max!
Not all was a bed of roses, as is the case with all of us. Mom managed her life with its good times and bad with all she had. She always had a smile, and her witty humor, carefree phrases that often included colorful words, of which I inherited some of these:), always got her through some of those difficult times. My life took a path away from "home" but we remained connected. Visits to Angola, NY were my priority for holidays or anytime I could get back. These are fond memories too; pizza and wings, chocolates, even a stroll out at the lake! We always wish for more time, and rehearse the "what ifs", there are no "do overs" we must make the best of the time and what we have. I have all these memories and many more, with age some will fade, but one thing is for sure, I had a Beautiful Mom, this will never fade! As her son, I see only the beauty both physically and embodied in the personality that was uniquely My Mom! I will truly miss her! I Love you Mom!!!
