John C. Vaughn – “Jack” Of Springville, NY, beloved husband of the late Jacqueline Vaughn (10/29/14); was granted his final independence by our Lord on July 4, 2015, at the age of 88 years. John was born May 10, 1927 to Charles H., and Caroline (Kluckohn) Vaughn. Jack, a lifelong resident of Vaughn Street, was the sixth generation of the Vaughn family who settled here in 1809. Jack and Jackie raised five children, and a menagerie of pets, on the family farm. In his youth, Jack ran the farm, and was a reporter and freelance writer for The Springville Journal. Later he drove trucks for Dash Dairy, and Mahl Bros. Oil in Springville, before owning/operating a refrigeration business. He retired in 1989, as an electrician, from Aronson Machine in Arcade, NY. Jack married Jacqueline Dell on November 29, 1952, and were together for 62 years. Jack and Jackie are survived by: Kimberlie (Andrew) Brayman, John Duncan (Sandy Pearson) Vaughn, Margarethe (Robert) Lenz, Holt (Marietta) Vaughn and Charles (Anna) Vaughn. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. There will be a gathering of friends and family on Sunday, July 12 from 1-3PM and 5-7PM at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main St. Springville, NY. Services will be held Monday at 10:30AM. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Springville,NY.
