I am sorry to hear about the passing of Martti, he was my grandfather, but I never got to meet him. He sounds like he was a wonderful man and I would like to send my deepest sympathies to the family.

On a beautiful July day we received a sad message: Martti has passed away. Since then we have thought about him and his family a lot. Our deepest condolences to Sally, Marcia, Kathleen and the family. Although Martti moved from Finland, his native country, decades ago he never forgot it. He regularly contacted us, his Finnish relatives. We had even a pleasure to meet him in 1994 when he visited Finland. The young generation got an opportunity to get to know him and to hear about his fabulous life then. We're living so far away that we won't be able to participate in the memorial service. A card of condolence has been sent to the family. We'll spend a small memorial ceremony here to respect his memory. Martti's name and a Finnish War Veteran plate have also been attached on his family grave stone. 'I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints on snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the gentle autumn's rain' (H.A. Dixon) Sincerely Pirjo-sister and her family

As a little kid from across the street Mr and Mrs Tmonen were great people. Their daughters were friends with my sister and brother. I remember Mr Timonen always being creative. His car that he built, the hang glider and sail boats. The first time I ever went sailing was with Mr Timonen off of Dunkirk. He laughed so much at me getting sea sick.It was a great time..I always enjoyed watching their cat when they went on vacation as well. Thank you for the great memories. Rest in Peace Mr Timonen. Sincerely Derek Wadsworth
