Obituary of Florence Federici - Sinicki
Sinicki, Florence, nee Pappas (age 98), peacefully passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 in Schenectady, NY. The daughter of Lucy and Nick Pappas, she was born on April 26, 1920 in Buffalo, NY. In 1946 she married Giulio Federici. Together they raised their nieces and nephew, Joan Salli Santora Gaggiano (deceased), Judy Salli (Frank) Angilella, and Tom (Carol) Salli. She was widowed in 1971, and in 1976 married Edward Sinicki. She was a life long Roman Catholic and recently attended St. Madeline Sophie Church in Guilderland, NY.
Florence was a member of the Greatest Generation. Her working life began early, helping her family in their restaurant during the Great Depression. She was employed at Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Buffalo, NY, backing up the rivets in the C-46 Curtiss Commando until the end of World War II. She and her fellow “Rosie the Riveters” were laid off the day the war ended. Florence continued her working career at Trico Plant #1 in Buffalo until her retirement in 1985. She and her husband Edward Sinicki enjoyed retirement at their home in Delray Beach, FL where Florence was an active member of Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church. She is well remembered for her many years of service at Queen of Peace, chairing the committee to make Rosaries for the Missionaries and teaching others how to make them. Widowed once again in 1986, Florence remained in Delray Beach until 2013 at the age of 93 when she left to live with her nephew Tom and his wife Carol in Guilderland, NY.
Florence is survived by her brother Christ (Leah) Pappas, Angola, NY, nephews C. Richard (Carol) Pappas, Angola NY, Timothy (Sharon) Pappas, Angola, NY, Christian (Erin) Pappas, Rochester, NY, Michael (Alyssa)Pappas, Rochester, NY, niece Judy (Frank)Angilella, Coral Springs, FL, nephew Tom (Carol) Salli Guilderland, NY.
Great nephews Thomas Dean Santora, Scott Gaggiano, Dominic Salli, Frank Angilella II, great niece Julie Angilella (to all of whom she was a grandmother), and many great great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Irene Pappas Hoffman and brother in law Harry Hoffman, Stow, Ohio.
A long life well lived; Florence will be remembered as charitable, loving, hard working and always putting others first. She will be sadly missed.
Friends may call Friday from 3-7PM at the ADDISON FUNERAL HOME, INC. 262 N. Main St. Angola, where services will be held Saturday at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga, NY
