Edward August Hahn; Born August 7,1935, died August 1, 2010, born in Buffalo, NY; resided in Angola, NY for 42 years and wintered in Stuart, FL for the past 12 years. Edward attended Most Holy Redeemer Elementary School and Seneca Vocational Trade School in Buffalo. He served in the US Army for 2 years. Upon his return he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and was a proud member of Local 41 for 55 years. Edward is pre deceased by his parents Anna Catherine (Adrian) and August Vincent "Whitey" Hahn and sister Anne (John) Zeis. He is survived by his sister Arlene(James)Kisker of Cheektowaga, NY, his separated wife Marilyn Hahn of Angola, NY and his 4 children; Eileen, Jennifer and Edward Hahn all of Angola, NY and Pauline (Eric) Bartlett of Bakersfield, CA and 3 grandchildren; Thomas, Molly and Alyssa McTernan of Angola, NY. Edward was a talented athlete but excelled at basketball and tennis. When overseas in the Army, his talents were noticed and he played for the US Airforce in the south Pacific. Tennis remained his lifelong enjoyment. In his youth he was a Buffalo City Champion and he still played and watched the sport in his retirement years. Edward also loved sailing. He learned to sail in a canoe that was fitted with a mast and sail by his father on the Lake Erie Shores of Angola. He owned several boats over the years and loved to be near the water. He was a quiet, yet firm supporter of several causes and organizations. He was a member of the Humane Society, Greenpeace, World Wildlife Fund, Arbor Day Foundation, Nature Conservancy, Disabled American Veterans and the Derby Tennis Club. During his retirement years he rebuilt his family's small wood framed cottage in Lake Bay of Angola, into a beautiful 3 story block "English Cottage Style" home, overlooking his beloved Lake Erie. He remained in his home per his wishes, lovingly cared for by his family, friends, neighbors and Hospice Services Friends may call 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM Thursday and Friday at the Addison Funeral Home Inc. 262 Main Street, Angola, NY. A memorial brunch will be held Saturday at 12 Noon in Scharffs Restaurant, 34 South Crossman Ave, Buffalo, NY.
