BERNS, David L.
Of Brant, NY entered into rest July 25, 2023, age 91. David was born January 11, 1932, adopted by Doris and Clarence Berns. He attended Farnham School and worked on his grandparents' farm. He worked the land that is now Evangola State Park, his career at Evangola spanned over 55 years. He was a US Army Veteran who served in Germany. He married the love of his life Marion (nee Brant) in 1955 and had three children, Marilee (Bob) Abbey, Heidi (late Pat) Gugino and the late Scott (Tammy) Berns. His grandchildren include his dearest Zachary (Danielle) Gugino, Tyler, Tina and Tavi Jon Berns. He was baptized in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Farnham, NY where he remained active his entire life and served on church council, was president of the Lutheran league, Sunday School Superintendent and active with the worship and music committees. David was member of several local fire departments. He enjoyed local politics and served as Town of Brant Tax Collector and as a town committeeman. A joy for many years was being Scoutmaster of Pack 398, Farnham. David lived a very long, happy life with his family and abundance of special friends. Family will be present to receive friends Friday, July 28, 2023 from 4-8 PM at the ADDISON FUNERAL HOME INC. 262 N. Main St. Angola, NY. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29 at 11 AM in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Farnham, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
