Our beloved departed this life after valiantly fighting a five year battle with Vascular Dementia. He was surrounded by loved ones at home.
He is preceded in death as a young boy by his parents Maria Del Refugio & Benjamin Gonzales; also preceded in death by his “adoptive” parents Goya & Teodosio Almendarez. He will be affectionately greeted at Heaven’s Gates by two grandsons, Tommy O’Connell & Cameron John, daughter-in-law Sonya Gonzales, niece Kristina Guerra, brother Joel Gomez, sisters Cathy Trevino & Ana Diaz and long time family friend, Robert Martinez, Sr.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Alice Mae Gonzales, who honored their wedding vows in sickness and in health until death do they part.
He leaves to cherish his sweet memories, four daughters, two sons and their spouses, JoAnna & Glenn Pesek of Friendswood TX, Sandy Gonzales of Irving NY, Donna O’Connell of Pueblo CO, Benjamin Gonzales of Murrieta CA, Kris & Pete John of Brant, NY and Jay B., Sr. & Kim Gonzales of Dubuque IA.
He is also survived by 4 sisters, Ruth Figueroa, Mellie Valencia, Kookie Guerra, Susana Arce and their respective families.
He takes with him loving memories and affection for his first cousins and their families from Algoa, TX whom were raised together as siblings.
Always very proud of his six children, he had an extra special love in his heart and was affectionally called Papa by his grandchildren Shauna & Ashley; Bryan; Tommy & Jordan; Laura; Tristan, Cameron, Kylee & Tylor; Amberlyn, Jay B. Jr., Breanna & Brent; Jonathan & Michael.
His great grandchildren include, Elena, Emma & Elias; McKenzy, Shanyce & Slade; Jordan Jr.; Caleb, Ezra, Levi & Nathan; Everett; Trey, Gunnar & Tate; Sydney; Presley; Arabella & Mila.
He devoted his life to the ministry and shared Jesus with all he met. He loved his family and loved his country. He served proudly in The United States Air Force and was a Korean Vet.
The family would like to thank the Veterans Hospital of Buffalo, NY and the Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo.

Family will be present to receive friends Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the Addison Funeral Home Inc. 262 N. Main Street, Angola, NY where funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 10 am Followed by interment and Military Honors in the Seneca Nation Community Cemetery, RT 438 Seneca Cattaraugus Territory.
