Obituary of Henrietta Gehshan

Born and raised in Brant, passed away on February 8, 2011 in
hospital near her home in Southampton, PA. A memorial service and
interment of ashes is planned for July 16 in Brant. Henrietta was the daughter ,and only child, of Edna Winters and Harry Burgott; she was born in 1923. She spent much time living and working at the farm of her grandfather, John C. Winters. She was a graduate
of Angola High School, class of 1941, and went off to Cornell for college,
graduating in 1945. She began a career as a Home Economics teacher and
married Nicholas Gehshan, a fellow student at Cornell, from Brooklyn. They
moved to the Philadelphia area, settling in Southampton. They had
four daughters, Gloria, Gail, Virginia and Michele. Nicholas died in 1969.
Henrietta taught Home Economics at a number of schools in the Southampton area
and retired in 1988. She was active in civic and community affairs and a long time
member of the Episcopal Church of the Redemption in Southampton. She enjoyed
gardening, cooking and travel. Aside from her four daughters, she is
survived by 7 grandchildren, one great grandchild and many friends and other
relatives. Friends are invited to meet at the Addison Funeral Home at 262
N. Main Street in Angola at 9 AM on Saturday, July, 16. Following this an
interment ceremony will be held at the family plot in the Brant Cemetery, east
of Brant on Route 249. A luncheon will follow at The Dock at the Bay,
Hoover Rd. Blasdell. All are invited.....Henrietta's daughters and family
members cordially invite everyone to join us in honoring Henrietta and
reminiscing about her life in Brant and beyond.
