Dear Miller Family, Please accept our sincere condolences for your sudden loss. Both my husband and I knew Rick through the military. Rick was an excellent soldier and caring, level headed leader, who had great pride in his family. I had the honor and privilege to serve with him when he was a First Sergeant and I was a Battalion CSM and then when he was a Battalion CSM and I was the Brigade CSM. I considered him to be my right hand man and a friend. He lead by example, exceeded standards, and achieved results. He always provided me with good advice, insight and recommendations. He was definitely a "go to guy" who could be relied upon to see things through and get things done. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all through this difficult period. He will be missed, and I am hopeful you can take some comfort in the fact that he made a difference and a lasting impact on all with whom he served. He will not be forgotten.

My thoughts and prayers go out for the Miller family I am truly sorry for your loss of a husband, father and grandfather. I first met Rick when I was a Drill Sergeant Leader Candidate for the 98th Division Drill Sergeant School. Rick was assigned to be my mentor which that he like everything that he did in his career exceeded the standards. He developed me into the Soldier that I am today. When he was first assigned as the Chief Instructor, he asked me to be the Senior Drill Sergeant Leader at Fort Devens. I thank him for his confidence in my abilities and also the way he handled any and all situations. I molded my career after his and I appreciate all that he has given me. You will be missed my friend, Rest in Peace.
