Obituary of Fred Brinkman

Fred W. Brinkman, of Farnham, NY died Thursday December 11, 2008 in Lake Shore Hospital, Irving, NY, he was 88. Son of the late Frederick J. Brinkman and Ethel Maude Brinkman(nee Shephard). Beloved husband of 66 years of Dorothy L. Brinkman(nee Rosenhahn)Loving father of the late Frederick Boyd Brinkman. He was a descendant of an early setter family, one of the first German families to settle in the Brant-Farnham area in the 1850&amp;#39;s. Mr. Brinkman was a graduate of Lake Shore High School and attended Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana., the University of Buffalo and Bryant and Stratton Business College. He was the owner of the Fred Brinkman Agency, an Insurance business started by his father in 1911. He and his son Fred Boyd, continued the business for almost a century, after it&amp;#39;s inception. Mr. Brinkman was a life member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Farnham, a church his grandfather helped found in the 1860&amp;#39;s. He served both on the church Council and cemetery committee. He was a member of the Farnham Volunteer Fire Department, serving as President, Vice President, secretary treasurer and was named Firefighter of the year in 1977. Fred was a member of Community Concern serving on the board for over 50 years, member of the Brant Senior citizens, an avid Historian and enjoyed BallRoom Dancing.
