Richard H. Geitner, of Angola, NY, passed away Tuesday January 14, 2014 in Buffalo Mercy Hospital, he was 92. Beloved husband of Bernice R. Geitner. Loving father of Nancy (late J.V. Paul) Dallaire, Lawrence Geitner, Linda (Ronnie) Adams and Thomas (Margaret) Geitner. Brother of the late Iva Brown, Douglas Geitner, Joan McGowan and Kathleen Murrett. Grandfather of Rachel, Mark Dallaire, Joshua, Leah Adams, Greg and Shelby Geitner. Great grandfather of Dakota. Friends may call Friday from 6PM - 8PM at the ADDISON FUNERAL HOME INC. 262 N. Main St. Angola, NY 14006. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 AM, in Most Precious Blood Church, Angola, NY. PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Most Precious Blood Church. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Angola, NY.
Richard was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Forces, and a World
War II B-17 pilot for more than 1,300 humanitarian and logistical mission hours
in Europe and Africa. After the war, he came back to Western New York, where he
met his wife, Bernice, and settled in Angola. He owned and operated the New
Angola Theatre from 1948 to 1995, and also operated the Grandview Drive-In
Theatre. Richard was a member of Most Precious Blood Church and the VFW. He
enjoyed hunting, played trumpet in local bands, traveling, telling stories,
fishing, gardening, and was a amiable mentor to all who worked with him.
