Obituary of Herman J. Ciminesi

Herman J. Ciminesi, who served as Brant Town Supervisor for 18 years from 1965 – 1984, died Sunday in his Town of Brant home, he was 90. Mr. Ciminesi who was born in Brant and was a life-long resident of the community was active in a wide range of civic, church and charitable organizations. Prior to serving his 18 Years as town supervisor Mr. Ciminesi served for one year as Brant Town Clerk and 6 years as justice of the peace. During his tenure as supervisor Mr. Ciminesi oversaw a number of improvements at the Brant Town Park , including a new highway department garage, recreation building, swimming pool and senior citizens center . He also coordinated the establishment of two sewer districts in town and a memorial park located in the center of Brant. Prior to retirement Mr. Ciminesi worked as park superintendant at Wendt Beach in Angola, NY Mr. Ciminesi was engaged in agriculture with his brother Vincent from 1946 until 1966, operating 176 acres in fruits and vegetables. During this time period he was active in the Extension Service, Farm Bureau and Erie County Conservation Office. Mr. Ciminesi was also a charter member, past officer and president of the Brant Volunteer Fire Co. He served as Chairman or Co- Chairman of the Brant Strawberry Festival for 12 years and was a member of the Board of Directors at Lake Shore Hospital in Irving, NY for 14 Years. Mr. Ciminesi was the beloved husband of the late Jessie (nee Bue) Ciminesi; dearest father of David J. Ciminesi. Son of the late Frank Ciminesi and Carrie Gugino. Grandfather of Carrie (Jason Mohatt) Ciminesi, Michael Ciminesi and Heather Ciminesi; brother of the late Sally (Dominic) Aguglia, Jennie (Joseph) Cervola, Josephine (Nunzio) Mogavero, Joseph (Mary E.), Frank (Mary A.), Samuel (Rose) and Vincent (Sally) Ciminesi. Son-in-law of the late Charles and Sarah (Arcara) Bue. Brother-in-law of Rose (late John) Falcone and Sarah (late Joseph) Tabbi. Friends may call at the ADDISON FUNERAL HOME, INC. 262 N. Main St. Angola, Thursday from 2-4PM and 7-9 PM where prayers will be said Friday at 9:15AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Parish of Our Lady, Brant, NY.
