In 2001, our son received a scholarship at Eden High School graduation sponsored by Mrs.Phyllis Willson. It came with a lunch invitation which we took her up on. We had lunch at The Old Orchard Inn days before our son left for West Point. She was thrilled with his college choice since her late husband had been a Colonel in the Army. We kept in touch through the years and our son even brought her a sweatshirt from West Point. Since Mrs. Willson's house is close to ours, I would stop when out for a walk. In fall of 2015, I stopped to see Mrs. Willson and she told me she would be going to assisted living at the end of October so I made a note to myself to stop in once again before then. I did stop to find Mrs. Willson not home and a neighbor told me she had gone already to assisted living due to repeated falls. After our return from "a warm place", I drove past Mrs. Willson's house and planned to give her a call. When I arrived home, I found Mrs. Willson's obituary in the Penneysaver and that the service had been one day prior.
I am writing this as a tribute to Mrs. Phyllis Willson and hope that some of her family members see it.

Phyllis was the only grandmother my daughters remembered. She was kind and loving to them when they were small and she was good to my father.

Phyllis married our Uncle Ross after both of them had been widowed. She took great care of him, and we appreciated it. She also spent time with our niece, Caity Bateman, who was a student at Fredonia. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family.
