Kevin, Sean and Kayla, I have no words to ease you sense of loss but I wanted you to know how much Mary Ann meant to me and the Sicu. I first met Mary Ann back in 1994 when we were both much younger. We became friends. I have memories of bringing my kids to your house for a Xmas party in the middle of a snowstorm!! You were just wee little ones at the time. Over the years, our friendship stayed true even when our work paths separated and then reunited 3 years ago. Besides working side by side, we bonded over our love for our families and our love of reading!! Book Club will not be the same without her.
As a nurse, she worked her butt off! She made sure her patients were her priority--all day, every day she worked. She taught me to be a better nurse. I remember her scolding me one morning for forgetting to do something for my patient.--After that, I never forgot to do it again! We all loved her and respected her for the professional she was.
She was fearless. I remember another time worrying about having to drive home to Hamburg in the middle of a snowstorm. Mary Ann volunteered to lead the way and allowed me to follow her. I was so grateful to her that day!
Please know your loss is our loss also. Find comfort knowing her pain is gone.
Finally, find comfort in knowing how much she loved you all.

My heart goes out to Mary Ann's family. Mary Ann loved her family above all else.
I have worked with Mary Ann for many years. Mary Ann was a wonderful person. She was also a fabulous nurse. She would arrange a list of things to be addressed each day for her patients and make sure during the day that all issues were accounted for . The ICU patient is very complex but she looked at each patient in a comprehensive way and brought them the best possible care.
Even when she was sick and returned to work on light duty she was an incredible resource for the other nurses. Her only complaint was that she was not allowed to do more.
Life is not easy to understand . Mary Ann was definitely someone with so much still to live, so much to do, so much to share. She will be so missed.

Deepest sympathy to MaryAnns family and friends. I knew Mary Ann ,the nurse , for a number of years . She was one of the best , most intelligent and most skilled nurses that I have known. Many patients and families benefitted from her ability to care for a person in body and soul. May your souls all be comforted in your loss by the care and love of friends and the memory of the beautiful person we will all miss. Judy Laurenzi RN @ BGH

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Mary Ann in her early days in the SICU, we oriented together. Her light heart, warm nature and cheerful outlook made her a joy to have on the team. I moved on quickly from there but over the years any time we would meet it was like catching up with a dear friend. We spoke last just a few months ago and I have kept her in my prayers. She was truly an angel of a nurse and her light shall be missed...fondly remembered always.
