Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patricia F. Burke (nee Serena), died Tuesday September 14, 2010 in her Angola home, she was 78. Beloved wife of the late Paul A. Burke. Loving mother of Lawrence D. (Marcy), Kenneth J.(Layne), Paul A. II(Juanita) Burke, Faith M. (Thomas) Terry,Paulette F. (Calvin) Schierer,Kathleen A.(David) Jeffers, Christine R. (David) Cook and the late Timothy A. and Diana L. Burke; sister of Beatrice R.(Frank) Ide. Also survived by 25 grand and 11 great grandchildren. Pat had two focuses in her life-serving her God and serving her family. She stayed true to both through her final days. She accepted Jesus as her savior at age 5, and served God through out her life. She attended the First Church of Evans through most her life, teaching Sunday school, leading worship and the Christian Endeavor Youth Group and served as the State President of Womans Aglow. As a team, she and her husband Paul served Jesus through the Gideons and Prayer and Praise Groups. While a member at the Full Gospel Tabernacle, Pat and Paul traveled as missionaries to the Phillipines in service and evangelism. Pat Loved to study the Bible and earned her degree from Liberty Home Bible Institute at age 75. She showed thru her life that we are never to old to learn and never to old to serve. Countless young people were influenced by Pat and Pauls ministry across the state. She worked in her home raising her 7 children and nurturing them in the lord. She also knew the sorrow of losing two infants, Timothy and Diana, here for a short time but with Jesus for eternity. She inspired her children to do great things with their lives and was proud that they all recieved college degrees. She is prouder still that they all know the Lord and will continue to do God's work. Everyone was welcomed into her home; youth coming from softball, ladies coming for bible study and quilting, the Derby Hatters and campers spending weekends on her lawn. Even as she welcomed all people into her family, Pat was more focused on inviting people into the Family of God and leading them into a relationship with Jesus Christ. She boldly asked others "Where are you with God?" Knowing this was the key to relationships and a successful life. She lived one of her favorite verses and taught her children the same- " As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
