Mary W. Greene (nee Hess) of Angola, NY died, Sunday February 7, 2010 in ElderWood Care at Lakewood Nursing Facility, Hamburg, NY, she was 96. Beloved wife of the late Albert Greene; dearest mother of James E. (Brenda) Greene and Richard A. (late Diane) Greene. Grandmother of Larry, Pamela and Brian. Also survived by 5 great grandchildren. Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Addison Funeral Home, Inc. 262 N. Main St. Angola, NY. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10AM in the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Main St. Angola. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she was the Organist for 69 years. Interment will be in Forest Avenue Cemetery. Born on February 12, 1913 in Interlaken, NY. Daughter of Tracy(Vena) Hess, Mary moved to Angola at the age of 1. She graduated from Angola High School in 1931 and began her distinguished career the First Congregational United Church of Christ, at age 15, in 1928. She was the Sunday School Orchestra-Pianist from 1928-1951. She was church organist from 1929-1998 (69 years), where she belonged from 1925 to the time of her death. She played for over 3,500 church services, 700 hundred weddings and hundreds of funerals. She also was the Lake Shore High School's, Orchestra-Pianist from 1928- 1931. She also gave private piano and organ lessons from her home, for over 20 years. She was elected an Honorary Deacon of the Church in 1982, and also Organist Emeritus. Mary also served in the Womens Guild, the Fellowship Committee and was a founding member of the Stichery at the Congregational Church. She was also a member of the Evans Historical Society.
